AEA was a proud sponsor of The Pensado's Place Awards, an event created to acknowledge the work done by industry professionals who actually put the content together. Whereas The Grammys recognizes the engineers and producers wing of the business, The Pensado's Place Awards are aimed at the entire technical community. Martina McBride presented one of our N22 microphones to Robert Webber of SoundCap Audio in Sacramento, winner of the AIR Award for Assistant-Engineer. Stay tuned to the Pensado's Place YouTube Channel to catch footage from the show, and join us and Pensado's Place in "Recognizing The Faces Behind The Sound."

Jeff Tweedy, frontman of the Chicago-based alternative rock band Wilco, recently announced a solo album recorded with the support of his son Spencer and R.E.M. keyboardist Scott McCaughey. The record, titled, Sukierae, was recorded at Wilco’s studio, The Loft, and is slated for release on September 23. A pair of AEA N22 NUVO series ribbon microphones was in constant use for the recording sessions of the album, particularly for electric guitar duties. Jeff Tweedy reports: "It's hard to get a better sound than a '57 Les Paul thru a Divine Noise cable into a tweed Fender Deluxe mic-ed up with an AEA N22 ribbon mic! The sound is GLORIOUS!"

We are proud to announce that the AEA R88 mk2 has won the 2013 PAR Excellence Award in the dynamic microphone category. The awards are a reader-voted program, presented by the Editors and Contributors of Pro Audio Review (PAR) magazine. The PAR Excellence trophy is a true award "of the people", so we would like to thank you all for your support. The R88 received the exact same number of votes as the Telefunken M82 dynamic mic making them both tied winners in this category.

"The AEA R88 mk2 Stereo Ribbon Microphone packs two matched, pressure-gradient pure aluminum ribbon transducers into a single elongated body, making it convenient to set up and record with,” explains PAR Software Editor Rich Tozzoli. “Overall, this mic delivers in several different ways. It’s easy to setup for stereo recording; it maintains a solid center image with a wide soundstage. It provides just what you would expect out of a high-end ribbon–huge, smooth, creamy sound with a massive bottom."
